What happens and what does not

  • Only copies delivered to recipients on your organisation's mail server are taken back. A message that went outside (for example to Gmail) cannot be recalled.
  • Your organisation's policy decides what happens if the recipient has already read the message; read messages may be skipped.
  • Depending on the policy, the message is deleted, moved to the trash, or only tagged. With tagging, the recipient sees the message with the Recalled tag.

Act quickly

Recall works best before the recipient opens the message.
