Archive helper component¶
A small root service keeps the mapping tables on the mail transfer side up to date for journaling copies in the archive.
The installer installs the helper when you select the archive module. To check its status:
systemctl status profelis-archive-mapwatch.timer
In the admin console, Tools and Migration › Profelis Archive › Status... shows the last journaling map generation; click Regenerate Maps to rebuild the maps by hand. Journaling copies are also taken through mailboxd, so this component is an optional extra copy; see Archive.
Postfix connection¶
For journaling copies to reach the archive, a blind-copy (BCC) mapping must be defined in Postfix. For safety the installer does not do this itself; it prints the required settings:
sudo ./scripts/install-archive-companion.sh --print-postfix
Apply and verify the printed settings on a test domain first.
Loop risk
A wrong BCC mapping can cause a mail loop; always test before going live.
Topology
Journaling is not supported on multi-server installations where mail transfer and the mail store run on separate servers.
