Digital transformation for public institutions, <\/span>not just a technology choice,<\/strong> at the same time <\/span>security, cost and efficiency<\/b> in terms of <\/span>strategic decision <\/b>means the process. <\/span>Local governments<\/b>, while continuously updating its infrastructures to provide faster and safer services to citizens, the used <\/span>system performance and sustainability <\/b>plays a critical role. With this awareness, Erzin Municipality also, its existing systems <\/span>more flexible, secure and manageable<\/b> It entered a transformation process in order to bring it into a state.<\/span><\/p>

Having used different solutions for many years, the municipality,<\/span> increasing security requirements <\/b>or <\/span>cost-effectiveness <\/b>chose SambaBox for its search. <\/span>A domestic and open-source-based solution <\/b>being,<\/span> ease of technical support <\/b>and verification <\/span>high performance<\/b> its presentation, were decisive factors in this decision. So, how did the transition process progress? Did the integration meet expectations? What kind of advantages did SambaBox offer compared to older systems?<\/span><\/p>

Erzin Municipality System Administrator Zafer Yanar<\/b> in this interview we conducted with, regarding the municipality's SambaBox<\/span> the transition process<\/b>, who lived <\/span>experiences<\/b>, which he\/she obtained <\/span>learning outcomes<\/b>, behind this transformation <\/span>decision-making mechanisms <\/b>or <\/span>tangible results achieved in the field<\/b> We are discussing it in detail.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

1. How did you hear about the SambaBox product?
What were the primary reasons that led you to search for a new product?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\u201cMy introduction to SambaBox actually<\/span> Making our IT infrastructure more secure and efficient <\/b>There were also times when I started searching. I work as the IT Officer at Erzin Municipality and I have 21 years of experience. I was looking for solutions that would enable more effective management of the systems we work with and provide improvements, especially in terms of security. Previously <\/span>Zentyal Server<\/b> or <\/span>Windows Server<\/b> I had used different solutions like. However <\/span>growing needs, topics such as data security and server management<\/b>, pushed me to look for alternative solutions.<\/span><\/p>

One of the main reasons I am looking for a new solution is, <\/span>a more flexible and cost-effective structure <\/b>It was my desire to be able to create. Also <\/span>open source <\/b>or safe, <\/span>modern <\/b>I was looking for solutions, which led products like SambaBox to enter our radar. 2. What were the most important factors in your choice of SambaBox? Which features stood out during your decision-making process?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\u201cAt the top of the most important factors in my choosing SambaBox is <\/span>a local product <\/b>It is about to happen. Using a domestically produced solution, both<\/span> receiving technical support <\/b>in terms of both<\/span> providing added value to our country<\/b> is a big advantage for me in terms of. Also, SambaBox's <\/span>not using too many system resources <\/b>was also quite important. While working at the Erzin Municipality <\/span>efficient use of resources <\/b>it is a critical priority for us, therefore <\/span>solutions that will optimize our servers and not degrade performance<\/b> We are searching.<\/span><\/p>

Besides that <\/span>cost factor <\/b>played a major role in. <\/span>Open-source based and cost-effective <\/b>that there is a solution, <\/span>High performance without straining our budget<\/b> allowed us to buy. 3. How do you evaluate the time elapsed from the beginning to the completion of the project?
Did the process of integrating SambaBox into your municipality's system align with your expectations in terms of time and effort?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\u201cAt the beginning of the project, especially <\/span>I had some concerns stemming from the active directory systems we used previously.<\/b> What we encountered in the past <\/span>complications<\/b> and various <\/span>Issues<\/b> due to, <\/span>I had doubts that SambaBox\u2019s integration process would be easy and smooth. <\/b>However, <\/span>The process went smoother than I expected.<\/b><\/p>

SambaBox's <\/span>user-friendly interface<\/b> or<\/span> good documentation<\/b>, made the integration quite easy. Also, thanks to it being a domestic solution <\/span>that we can receive quick responses regarding technical support,<\/b> helped us complete the project quickly. Thanks to all these factors, I had an experience that met my expectations in terms of time and effort. Of course, as in every project, there were some minor technical difficulties, but overall the integration process went quite smoothly and <\/span>We completed it in a shorter time than we expected.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

4. Compared to your old system, how was your experience in terms of the installation speed and ease of SambaBox?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\u201cCompared to our old systems, installing SambaBox was truly<\/span> very fast and smooth <\/b>It happened. <\/span>In previous active directory solutions, installation and configuration phases could often be complex and time-consuming. <\/b>However, with SambaBox, this process was completed much faster than we expected.<\/span><\/p>

Too much during the installation phase <\/span>without experiencing confusion<\/b>, required<\/span> We completed the configurations in a short time.<\/b> Also, <\/span>The process of migrating our existing systems to the new structure was also wonderful. The transfer of the data <\/b>and getting users functional in the new system was much smoother than we expected. \u201cOne of the most important benefits provided by SambaBox is, <\/span>ease of system management and user-friendly structure<\/b> Done. In our previous systems <\/span>performing some operations is complex and time-consuming <\/b>It was possible. However <\/span>With SambaBox, we have seen how easily systems can now be managed using a web interface thanks to advancing technology. Thanks to the web-based interface, we have gained the ability to manage our servers and users much more quickly and effectively.<\/b><\/p>

In addition, I can say that SambaBox offers significant advantages in terms of security and performance. Compared to our previous system, <\/span>our security level has increased, and by using system resources more efficiently, higher performance at a lower cost <\/b>we began to achieve. Also, being a domestic solution and the speed and access it provides in terms of technical support have been a great benefit for us. These elements, <\/span>made our daily operations more efficient.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

6. Does having a redundant directory server and being able to get help in the event of a failure make you feel safer?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cDefinitely, <\/span>The directory server being redundant and replication being performed in real time gives us great confidence.<\/b> Thanks to this feature, <\/span>In the event of any malfunction, the loss of our data is prevented and the system is recovered quickly.<\/b> Also, in case of a malfunction <\/span>being able to get help quickly,<\/b> It minimizes potential disruptions and ensures system continuity. <\/b>This was also a critical security factor for us and became an important element that increases operational efficiency.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

7. How would you assess the cost-effectiveness of SambaBox?

\u201cThe impact of SambaBox from a cost perspective was quite positive. <\/span>The biggest savings, we significantly reduced license costs. Previously we were using Microsoft products and the license fees for these products could be quite high. Thanks to SambaBox, by using an open-source solution, we minimized license costs and this considerably relieved our budget.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Furthermore, I think that SambaBox's domestic and open-source structure provides a significant advantage, especially for institutions with budget constraints such as municipalities. The success we achieved in this project, <\/span>achieved through the dedicated efforts of our employees, alongside experienced and consistent teamwork <\/b>I have observed that the successful completion of a technological change process depends not only on the correct selection of software and infrastructure, but also on those who manage the project and successfully complete this process <\/span>with the team's harmonious and determined work <\/b>It was made possible.
